Gardeners Parsons Green is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for our gardeners, clients, visitors and members of the public who may be affected by our gardening and grounds maintenance activities. Our Health and Safety Objectives

Our primary objectives are to prevent injury, ill health and property damage, to comply with applicable health and safety legislation and to continually improve our standards. We aim to identify and control risks arising from gardening activities, provide clear information and training and promote a culture in which safety is an integral part of every task.

Management Responsibilities

The management of Gardeners Parsons Green has overall responsibility for implementing this Health and Safety Policy. Management will ensure that appropriate resources are provided to maintain safe systems of work, including suitable equipment, tools and personal protective equipment. Management will also ensure that risk assessments are completed, reviewed regularly and that identified control measures are implemented in practice.

Management is responsible for communicating this policy to all employees and contractors and for setting expectations regarding safe behaviour, reporting procedures and compliance with relevant standards. We will review this policy periodically and after any significant change in our operations or relevant legislation.

Employee Responsibilities

All gardeners, gardeners assistants and other employees share responsibility for health and safety. Every team member must take reasonable care for their own safety and for the safety of others who may be affected by their work. Staff are required to follow the training and instructions provided, use equipment correctly and wear appropriate protective equipment when required.

Employees must promptly report hazards, near misses, accidents, incidents, damaged equipment or unsafe conditions to their supervisor or manager. No employee should undertake any task for which they have not been trained or authorised, or which they believe to be unsafe without further guidance.

Risk Assessment and Safe Working Practices

Before gardening work begins, we will assess the risks associated with tasks such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, tree work, planting, waste handling, use of machinery and use of chemicals. Site specific factors such as access, uneven ground, slopes, weather conditions and the presence of members of the public will be taken into account.

Appropriate control measures may include the selection of suitable tools, exclusion of non-essential persons from work areas, clear communication with clients regarding access, and adjusting work methods to reflect site conditions. We encourage employees to work at a steady, sustainable pace, to take suitable rest breaks and to stay hydrated, especially in warm weather. Work will be planned to minimise unnecessary repetition and awkward postures.

Environmental and Public Safety

Our teams take care to protect both the environment and members of the public while working in gardens and outdoor spaces. Work areas will be organised to reduce tripping and other hazards, and tools or materials will not be left unattended where they may present a risk.

We aim to minimise noise, dust and debris and to secure waste materials until they can be removed from site. Particular care will be taken near roads, communal pathways, play areas and shared spaces to prevent accidents and to maintain safe access for others.

Incident Reporting and Emergency Procedures

All accidents, injuries, near misses and dangerous occurrences must be reported to management as soon as possible. This enables us to provide support, investigate causes and implement actions to prevent recurrence. Records will be maintained in accordance with legal and company requirements.
